ABSTRACT:
The economic development of rural areas in Manipur has been significantly influenced by the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), particularly in empowering rural women. SHGs have provided a platform for women to engage in income-generating activities, enhance savings, and access credit facilities, thereby reducing dependency on traditional moneylenders. Despite challenges such as inadequate promotional assistance and reliance on traditional methods. The study reveals that SHGs have fostered a sense of independence, improved social status, and facilitated the management of local resources. The initiatives under SHGs align with broader developmental goals, contributing to the economic stability of rural households.
