Abstract: Most entrepreneurs are too involved in their work, and neglect the importance of health as a
primary source of business performance. This research adopts a qualitative narrative approach to
investigate entrepreneurs' burnout in the Tunisian context. The dimensionality of Maslach's
(1981) three aspects of job burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal
accomplishment) were used to collect data among a sample of twelve entrepreneurs and divided
into two groups based on two main criteria of burnout. Data analysis showed that the feeling of
burnout differed from one entrepreneur to another taking into account factors related to the
external environment and factors related to the characteristics of the leader. For better
understanding the burnout process two conceptual models for these two groups are proposed. |
