Abstract: The 1857 movement was India's first organized independence movement. Nationalism and patriotism were not fully prevalent in this movement, but still it was spread over a large part of the country and its leaders tried to drive the foreign rulers out of the country. This movement failed due to lack of organization and practices, but the spark it kept burning evenly and took the form of flames from time to time.
