Abstract:
Tourism is labour-oriented and provides employment several times more than normal manufacturing industries. Several types of business firms, such as hotels, restaurants, travel agents, tour operators, gift shops, transporters etc. earn bulk of the tourist dollars. Various other secondary or allied business times firms for example, construction firms, suppliers of food and beverages, taxi drivers, photographers etc. also benefit our of it. Tourism thus increases employment level by creating new employment in the sector and by simulating the creation of others, such as transport and construction etc. This paper analysis what role tourism industry plays in generation of employment in the study area. The focus is on the growth, trends and level of different tourism employment in the study area.
