ABSTRACT: Caste-based reservations, or affirmative action, is a system that aims to provide historically
disadvantaged groups with representation in various aspects of Indian society, including
education, employment, government programs, scholarships, and political representation.
However, this system is a topic of considerable debate and controversy, especially among urban
middle-class individuals belonging to the "general caste" category. They may perceive
reservations as a barrier to their opportunities to become doctors, engineers, and civil servants.
