Abstract:
After the decline of the empire-enjoying Guptas, the pre-Muslim era (around AD 500 to 1200) emerged. During this important social and economic changes are visible. An important economic change, which affected all aspects of life, was the widespread adoption of land grants and the feudal system that arose from it. Unequal distribution of land and military power created many feudal positions, which were pervading the public life breaking the traditional varna-rules.
